Edited by David Platt, Daniel L. Akin, and Tony Merida, this new commentary series, projected to be 48 volumes, takes a Christ-centered approach to expositing each book of the Bible. Rather than a verse-by-verse approach, the authors have crafted chapters that explain and apply key passages in their assigned Bible books. Readers will learn to see Christ in all aspects of Scripture, and they will be encouraged by the devotional nature of each exposition.
Exalting Jesus in Galatians is written by David Platt & Tony Merida.

David Platt and Tony Merida's commentary on Galatians is generally very good. I was put off by their approach to the first two chapters, but found the rest of the commentary very insightful and encouraging. At the beginning they present a definition of legalism (without any input from Scripture) then proceed to interpret much of the first couple of chapters from that framework. They make a mistake that I believe many Christians make by equating keeping the law with legalism. Jesus kept the law without being legalistic. I believe you could say the same of Moses, Samuel, David, Josiah, Isaiah and many others. I don't find legalism discussed anywhere in Galatians. On the topic of imposing the law on Gentile believer they should have let the text of Paul's letter speak and then interpret accordingly. Fortunately as they move on through the book, they get away from that problems. Much of the remainder of the commentary I found perceptive in its applications, supportive in my Christian walk and certainly Christ-centered.Product details

Exalting Jesus in Galatians ChristCentered Exposition Commentary edition by David Platt Tony Merida Religion Spirituality eBooks Reviews
This is the next book that I will teach on our Wednesday night bible studies
Insightful, and profound, but also simple enough that you do not need four different degrees to use it. Would highly recommend!
Well thought through. Engaging chapter questions at the end of each chapter. I am not a Calvinist, but was able to get so much from this commentary.
Love the focus being on CHRIST
I know this is meant for pastors in sermon - prep but as a layperson I enjoyed it thoroughly and found many insights. It helped me get a big picture view of Galatians while diving into smaller details.
If you are looking for a bible study for small group or self with accurate biblical doctrine that teaches Christ's truth and reason for saving us, not watered down by secular influences, then this is an excellent series.
Gives a very good understanding of the letter to the Galatian church. Sometimes it is hard reading only the letter. We all need any additional help we can get. I have never failed to get a very worthwhile "diamond" of understanding from a work like this one.
